No. 36 Texas Tech edges No. 60 UTSA

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No.60 UTSA men's tennis won the doubles point as the duo Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) increase their win streak to five, but No.36 Texas Tech was able to edge the Roadrunners, 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.

UTSA (7-4) fell at Texas Tech (10-5) on Sunday, as the Red Raiders were able to dominate in the singles competition.

In doubles, Ceolin and Gonzalez improve to 5-1 on the season as they gained victory on court 1 against Issac Arevalo (Mazatlan, Mexico) and Piotr Pawlak (Poland). Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Tiago Torres (Lisbon, Portugal) also run their win streak up to four as a duo as they defeated Reed Collier (Seabrook, Texas) and Dimitrios Azoidis (Limassol, Cyprus) on court 2. They improve to 5-1 as a team.

"I'm very happy about our performance in doubles." Head coach Sergey Avedeyv said.  "Our guys stepped up when we needed them to. We had many leads in singles that we could not close. Against ranked teams like that, we must take every opportunity we can, but we weren't able to. We will learn from today's match and move forward."

The Roadrunners will be back in action as they host the No.49 Charlotte on Friday and the
 No. 41 SMU on Saturday.
