Roadrunners dominate Ragin' Cajuns in home opener

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team topped Louisiana-Lafayette 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
"Happy that our team got their first win of the season," UTSA head coach Sergey Avdeyev said.  "We have a lot of young guys who are still trying to adjust to playing at the college level. I give credit to Louisiana, they played well. We started strong in singles but then lost the momentum as the match progressed. We were able to come back and seal the win by winning all six singles. It was a great turn out, the home crowd helped us at the end. We are looking forward to improving as we prepare for the next home match vs UTGRV in two weeks."
Danijal Muminovic (Tuzla, Bosnia) and Tiago Torres (Lisbon, Portugal) made their debut as they both claimed their first college wins. Muminovic posted a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 win on court 4 while Torres recorded a 6-2, 7-5 win on court 5.
Javier Gonzalez (6-3, 3-6, 7-6), Sebastian Rodriguez (6-0,0-6,6-2) and Maxim Groysman (6-4, 6-1) all earn their first win in singles for the season.
In doubles, Garrett Skelly and Javier Gonzalez add another win under their belt as they defeated Kacper Dwoeak and Calin Postea 7-6.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Jan.30 against UTRGV at 2 p.m. at UTSA Tennis center.
