SAN ANTONIO – After concluding their non-conference schedule with a 1-0-1 record at the Drury Hotels Invitational, UTSA soccer will begin conference play. The Roadrunners (5-2-1) will host the Old Dominion Monarchs (4-2) this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Park West Athletics Complex. The game vs. Old Dominion, will be streamed on CUSA TV.
The Roadrunners enter conference play with a strong 5-2-1 record, as their only two losses are to Big 12 programs Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. The Roadrunners' last two games came as part of the Drury Hotels Invitational that they hosted this past weekend. In their first tournament tilt, UTSA beat Lamar 2-1. Both Kiran Singh and Alissa Stewart scored in the contest. Both goals were Singh and Stewart's first of their career.
In their second tournament match, the Roadrunners faced the Huskies of HBU. At the end of regulation, the two squads found themselves knotted at 1 apiece. Two overtimes later the two were still tied, and the match ended in a draw. The lone goal scorer for the Roadrunners was Ellis Patterson, who netted her third on the season. The goal was Patterson's 19th career goal, and she is now 3rd in the UTSA record books for goals scored.
The Roadrunners hold a goal differential of 12-8 on the season. UTSA is averaging 1.5 goals per game and is shooting 39% of their total shots on net. The Roadrunners are averaging 12.9 shots per game.
UTSA goalkeeper Jil Schneider has saved 25 shots and posts a 0.97 goals against average. UTSA has seen eight different players score through eight games this season. Ellis Patterson leads the offensive charge, as she has three goals this season. Anna Sutter and Kendall Kloza each have two goals to their name. Alissa Stewart and Patterson lead the squad with three assists on the year and seven other Roadrunners have notched at least one assist. Patterson leads the team in points scored with nine and shots attempted with 13.
Old Dominion enters the game on Thursday with a goal differential of 9-6 and a 4-2 record. The Monarchs are led offensively by forward Megan Watts who has three goals on 18 shots, and forward Carla Morich has two assists and two goals. Old Dominion has played two goalkeepers this season. In Jasmine Crawley's two appearances, she has amassed 180 minutes of play time with three saves and two goals against. The other Cardinal goalie is Kasey Perry. She's played 365 minutes on the year and has saved 5 shots.
This will mark the seventh meeting between UTSA and Old Dominion, with the Monarchs owning a 1-5 advantage in the series. The last time the two squads met in 2019, Old Dominion won 3-0.
