Men’s Basketball announces complete 2021-22 schedule

SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA men's basketball team will play 18 total home games as part of its 2021-22 schedule, it was announced by head coach Steve Henson on Monday afternoon.

UTSA will play an 18-game home schedule, featuring nine conference games and nine non-conference matchups at the Convocation Center. UTSA's complete schedule is a 31-game slate, with 18 games in league play.

"Our nonconference schedule, which includes competitive programs from the Big 12, Horizon League, Missouri Valley and WAC, will give us a good opportunity to prepare for the rigors of the C-USA season," Henson said. "One of our goals this year was to create more opportunities to play games in front of our fans in San Antonio and this will mark the most non-conference home games we've had in our time here. We are grateful to our stakeholders for their hard work, creativity and generosity in allowing us the opportunity to play more at the Convocation Center as we gear up for league play. We're excited to get this team out on the court and continue to progress towards our goals."

The Roadrunners will open their 2021-22 schedule with a Nov. 9 matchup against cross-town foe Trinity at 7:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

UTSA will then hit the road for a matchup at Oklahoma on Nov. 12 before returning home for a multi-team event at the Convocation Center. UTSA will hit the road to face Grand Canyon in Phoenix on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. CT and will then participate in the Battleground 2K21 vs. Sam Houston at Houston's Toyota Center on Dec. 11.

The Roadrunners will host UTRGV on Dec. 17 on 7 p.m., travel to face Illinois State in Normal, Ill., on Dec. 21 and will wrap up their non-conference slate by hosting Our Lady of the Lake on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m.

UTSA had previously announced its conference schedule, which will feature 18 games, including nine home contests and nine on the road.

UTSA will host Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, UTEP, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, UAB, North Texas and Rice. UTSA will hit the road for contests at Middle Tennessee, UAB, Old Dominion, Charlotte, UTEP, Rice, North Texas, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech.

The Conference USA Championships will be held March 9-12 in Frisco, Texas.

The Roadrunners return several standouts from a 15-win season in 2020-21 that saw UTSA earn the No. 4 seed in the Western Division in the 2020-21 C-USA Championships. Junior center Jacob Germany returns as UTSA's returning leader in points (10.3) and rebounds (6.0). Sophomore guard Jordan Ivy-Curry – a 2021 All-Freshman Team honoree – averaged 7.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
