SAN ANTONIO – UTSA baseball slugger Ian Bailey has been named All-Texas Collegiate League after helping spur the San Antonio Flying Chanclas to the league title. Get all the stats from UTSA's summer baseball league standouts in the latest UTSA baseball notebook.
Bailey, a native of San Antonio and a product of Stevens High School, had a prolific summer in the TCL, reaching base safely in 34 of 35 games. He batted .283 (36-for-127) with 35 runs, nine doubles, three triples, five homers and 31 RBI with a 27-29 walk-strikeout ratio.
He was joined on the championship squad by UTSA right-handed pitcher Luke Malone, with the pair helping team up on the Flying Chanclas to best the Victoria Generals, led by UTSA infielder Austin Ochoa and righty Reece Easterling, in the championship game.

Summer: Posted a 3-0 record and a 1.98 ERA in 11 games and three starts, earning a save in 31.2 innings, allowing only 20 hits and 10 walks, with 43 strikeouts … worked consecutive six-inning starts to finish his summer, including a win on July 18 where he allowed just a run on four hits … worked six innings with a summer-best seven strikeouts and two runs allowed in his summer finale … picked up a save in his first outing of the summer on June 2, fanning a pair in a shutout inning … earned his first win of the summer on June 16 with three shutout, one-hit innings.
John Chomko, So., RHP – California Collegiate League – Arroyo Seco Saints
Summer: Went 3-1 with a 1.88 ERA in 11 games and three starts during the summer in the California Collegiate League … worked 28.2 innings, allowing only 24 hits and seven walks, striking out 48 … seven of his 11 outings went without allowing a run … fanned nine over four shutout, two-hit innings on July 24 … had eight strikeouts in his third win of the year on July 30, allowing an earned run over five hits and a walk in five innings.
Reece Easterling, Sr., RHP – Texas Collegiate League – Victoria Generals
Summer: Worked in 10 starts during the summer for the Victoria Generals in the Texas Collegiate League … tossed 40.2 innings, allowing 50 hits and 24 walks, striking out 38 … tossed five shutout innings in his summer debut on June 2, allowing just three hits and a walk … worked a season-long 5.2 innings on July 15, allowing two earned runs with six strikeouts.
Daniel Garza, So., RHP – California Collegiate League – Walnut Creek Crawdads
Summer: Had a strong summer in the California Collegiate League … worked in eight games with four starts, earning a 2-0 record and a 3.22 ERA, saving one game … tossed 30.2 innings, allowing only 27 hits and six walks, striking out 37 … finished the summer strong with at least five-inning starts in each of his final three outings … worked six one-run innings with eight strikeouts in his finale on July 30 … tossed a summer-high seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts over four hits allowed on July 2 for his first win of the season … earned a save in his first outing of the summer, working two shutout innings with three strikeouts on June 10.
