Roadrunners host Texas State on Wednesday at 7 pm

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA volleyball team will host Texas State in a 7 p.m. match at the Convocation Center on Wednesday in a game slated for broadcast live on CUSA TV. 
 
UTSA (2-3) will host the Sun Belt Conference Champions Texas State (24-2, 15-1 Sun Belt) in the spring season opener for the Bobcats. The Bobcats last played in the league championship match at South Alabama against 12th ranked Coastal Carolina on Nov. 22, a 3-2 TXST win. 
 
The Roadrunners are coming off a two-match swing through Dallas, facing off with unbeaten SMU last Thursday and Friday. SMU claimed a three-set win on Thursday night before the Roadrunners pushed the Mustangs to five sets on Friday in Dallas. 
 
As a team so far in the 2020-21 season, UTSA has wins over UTRGV and UIW. UTSA has averaged 12.6 kills, 11.6 assists, 1.3 aces, 15.9 digs and 1.4 blocks per set. Junior Hannah Lopez owns 3.33 kills per set, hitting .234, while freshman Amanda Ifeanyi averages 3.67 kills per set with a .482 hitting percentage. Hunter Coppola averages 2.91 kills per set and is coming off an 18-kill effort on Friday in Dallas. 
 
Mia Ybarra paces the team with 5.24 digs per set, with sophomore Courtney Walters leading the team with 9.55 assists per set. Jessica Langridge leads the team with 0.92 blocks per set. 
 
The Cats won four straight matches in the league tournament to claim the automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament in the spring. Texas State will play a 14-match schedule in the spring, with 12 matches against Big 12 foes and two vs. North Texas. 
 
During the 2020 fall season, Texas State won 24 of 26 matches and 15 of 16 in league play. The Bobcats averaged 14.3 kills, 13.4 assists, 1.3 aces, 16.9 digs and 12.3 blocks per set as a team. Janell Fitzgerald led the Cats with 3.75 kills per set, hitting .350 with 390.5 total points. Emily DeWalt led the team with 11.3 assists per set, with Lauren Teske leading the team with 24 aces. Kayla Granada owned a team-leading 3.99 digs per set.
