Women's hoops falls to Lady Techsters on senior day

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team was upended 30-69 by Louisiana Tech Thursday evening.
 
The Lady Techsters had an early start with a 7-0 run and stuck with it until the final buzzer. Hitting a 15-2 run in the first, LA Tech led 22-7 at the end of the first quarter.
 
In the second, both teams struggled to find the basket as only nine total points had been scored in the first five minutes. The Lady Techsters hit a short to run to help them lead 33-14 going to the locker room.
 
LA Tech continued to find the basket in the third quarter, outscoring UTSA 19-5 to lead 52-19 at the end of the quarter.
 
In the fourth, the Lady Techsters opened with a 6-0 run to extend the lead. The Roadrunners hit a 5-0 run to close the gap, but it wasn't enough as the Louisiana Tech held onto the lead until the clock hit zero.
 
Game Notes

  • With the loss, the Roadrunners and the Lady Techsters split the season series 1-1
  • Charlene Mass led the team with 11 points, followed by Adryana Quezada with 10
  • Prior to the game, Deja Cousin, Tija Hawkins, Evelyn Omemmah and Timea Toth were recognized in a senior ceremony

 
The Roadrunners close the season at FIU on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT.
