SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball fell to Charlotte, 47-67 Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
Charlotte (15-7, 6-5 C-USA) put the first points on the board. Karrington Donald made the first 3-pointer of the day at the 8:58 mark and scored first for UTSA (6-16, 2-9 C-USA). The 49ers hit an 8-0 run to push the lead (12-3).The Roadrunners scored just six more points as Charlotte continued to find the basket and lead 22-9 after the first.
UTSA opened the second quarter with a 9-2 run through the first three minutes. Charlotte went on a 6-0 to push the lead, but Timea Toth broke the scoring drought at the 3:32 mark. In the final three and a half minutes, the Roadrunners hit a 6-0 run to close the gap. UTSA outscored Charlotte 17-11 to trail 26-33 at the half.
The 49ers came out of the locker room scoring four points before UTSA could find the basket. As the Roadrunners hit a scoring drought, Charlotte went on a 5-0 run and scored 17 points in the quarter to lead 50-33 going into the final 10 minutes.
In the fourth, the 49ers scored just three more points (17-14) than the Roadrunners. Evelyn Omemmah opened the quarter with a layup. UTSA went on a 7-0 run to close the gap (42-54), but Charlotte followed with an 8-0 run to push the lead and take the win.
