BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The UTSA women's basketball team was topped by WKU 85-57 Saturday afternoon.
WKU (18-6, 10-3 C-USA) started the game scoring five-consecutive points until Timea Toth made a layup at the 8:21 mark to put UTSA (6-18, 2-11 C-USA) on the board. The Lady Toppers hit a 6-0 run until Adryana Quezada made a layup with 5:27 remaining. WKU then went on a 7-0 run to push the lead. In the final four minutes, both teams scored seven points each as the Roadrunners trailed 11-25 after the first.
In the first five minutes of the second quarter, the teams were even once again in scoring, putting up just six points apiece. The Lady Toppers then hit a 10-0 run to lead 43-21. Quezada made a free throw with 1:51 left on the clock to stop the run. UTSA scored seven more points and trailed 29-51 at the half.
Coming out of the locker room, the squads scored 18 points total through the 4:49 mark. In the final four minutes, WKU outscored UTSA 14-10 to lead 74-58 going to the final 10 minutes.
In the fourth quarter, both teams struggled to find the basket in the first five minutes as seven total points were scored. Fourteen more points were scored in the quarter as the Lady Toppers outscored the Roadrunners 11-9 to take the win.
