Men’s Tennis earns ITA All-Academic Team honors

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team has been honored with All-Academic Team accolades and student-athletes juniors Kai Breitbach, Javier Gonzalez and Patrick Poestinger earned Scholar-Athlete status by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. 
 
The ITA All-Academic Team award is given to teams that sport a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above, inclusive of all letterwinners over the fall and spring semesters. ITA Scholar-Athletes have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 and have been at their school for at least two semesters.
 
Breitbach, a native of Kaarst, Germany, was UTSA's lead singles player in 2019, entering the year ranked in the ITA's top 100. He finished the year with an 8-13 record in singles and a 6-11 mark in doubles. Breitbach has a 3.46 cumulative GPA as a business-finance major. 
 
Gonzalez, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound product of San Fernando, Chile, went 9-7 in singles and 4-4 in doubles. Gonzalez sports a 3.8 cumulative GPA. 
 
A native of Ennsdorf, Austria, Poestinger went 4-3 in singles in 2019 and 6-4 in doubles. Poestinger has a 3.48 cumulative GPA as a finance major. 
 
In addition to the junior trio honored by ITA, UTSA saw kinesiology major Joao Ceolin (3.2 GPA) and marketing major Juri Reckow (3.31) post strong performances in the classroom.
