Soccer ends Charlotte's win streak

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UTSA soccer team ended Charlotte's seven-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon.

The Roadrunners improve to 8-7-1, 4-5-0 C-USA, while the 49ers fall to 12-4-0, 7-2-0 C-USA on the season. Rice was the only other loss Charlotte had in conference, which happened the first week of C-USA action.

In the 15th minute, UTSA scored the first goal of the game. The Roadrunners passed the ball around near the Charlotte goal and a defender blocked a shot, but it wasn't cleared and Isa Hernandez found the far post to score.

The 49ers tied the game in the 74th minute off a corner kick that wasn't cleared and Maddie Bragaw flicked the ball into the net.

Just a minute later, the Roadrunners scored the game-winning goal. Lexi Bolton fed a corner kick into the box and after bouncing off a couple of heads, Harper Luczka got a boot on the ball and found the net for her first goal of the season.

UTSA posted 12 shots with seven on target, while Charlotte had nine with five on goal. Jil Schneider recorded four saves on the day.

The Roadrunners return to action on Friday at UTEP for the final regular-season game of 2019. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CT.
