"I am happy with the first week of practice," third-year UTSA head coach Kristen Holt said. "I thought we brought good energy and did a nice job of improving our defense. With so many new faces, there is a lot of learning that is taking place but the main thing is we are eager to do it correctly. With that type of approach, we will see the improvement we need to see day to day."
During their time in the gym, the Roadrunners worked on motion offense, getting lots of shots up, man defense and transition offense.
UTSA returns six players, including Mandi Cooks, Deja Cousin, Karrington Donald, Tija Hawkins, Evelyn Omemmah and Timea Toth. The Roadrunners welcomed eight new faces to the team, including six true-freshmen, Elena Blanding, Karley Larson, Charlene Mass, Shannan Mitchell, Adryana Quedada and Mikayla Woods and two transfers, Grace Daniels and Kiara Shoals.
The season-opener is set for Nov. 6 when UTSA hosts Concordia Texas at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
