SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will open the 2019-20 fall season with a split-squad weekend the Midland Invitational in Midland, Texas, and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Invitational on Friday-Sunday.
The Roadrunners are coming off a 14-win season from the spring in 2019 and return their entire roster from a year ago. The Roadrunners are led by seniors Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany), Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) and Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany). Juniors Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil), Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) and Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and sophomore Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) also earned letters in 2018-19. Javier Rodriguez earned All-Conference USA honors as a sophomore after transferring from Purdue.
UTSA welcomes freshmen Sabastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Kaito Nishihara (Austin, Texas) to the roster for 2019-20.
The Roadrunners are under the direction of fourth-year head coach Rodrigo da Silva, who is assisted by first-year coach Cullen Dees.
