HOUSTON -- Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) posted the lone singles points for UTSA men's tennis in a 4-1 loss at Rice on Sunday evening in the final day of the Conference USA Showcase at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
UTSA (13-8) fell to Rice (13-11) to wrap up its stay in the three-day C-USA Showcase, after posting 4-1 wins over UAB and Southern Miss to open the event.
UTSA forced third sets on four of the six singles courts but the Owls were able to use three early points to post the win.
Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany) fell in a matchup vs. No. 41 Summit Sarkar. Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) had their third-set singles matches go unfinished. UTSA also used Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) and Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) in singles.
Ceolin and Poestinger teamed to post a win on the second court of doubles.
The Roadrunners will wrap up their road slate in the regular season with a Saturday matchup at Abilene Christian at 2 p.m.
