SAN ANTONIO — Riding a stretch of three straight top-five finishes, the UTSA men's golf team will compete in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Monday-Tuesday, April 15-16, at Golfcrest Country Club (par 72/7,254 yards) in Pearland, Texas.
The Roadrunners will line up against Abilene Christian, No. 28 Arkansas State, Denver, George Washington, Houston, Houston Baptist, Lamar, McNeese State, New Mexico State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas State, UT Arlington and Wichita State. The field will play 36 holes Monday and the final round is slated for Tuesday.
UTSA has finished in the top five in each of its last three tournaments, including third-place showings at the Louisiana Classics and Lake Charles Invitational. Three Roadrunners finished in the top 20 to help UTSA take third in Lake Charles with a 24-under-par 840, the second-best 54-hole score in school history. Sean Meehan tied for 13th with a 6-under 210 (72-68-70), while Christian Fanfelle (68-72-71—211) and Chad Sewell (71-71-69—211) shared 16th to lead the way.
The Roadrunners last competed in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Oct. 9-10, 2017. Zander Lozano carded a 208 (72-68-68) to finish second and Adam House tied for 11th with a 215 (72-73-70) to lead UTSA to fifth place.
