HOUSTON – UTSA men's tennis earned the doubles point and used singles wins from Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany), Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) to earn a 4-1 win over Southern Miss (8-8) in the second day of the Conference USA Showcase at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Saturday.
UTSA (13-7) won its second straight 4-1 decision in the C-USA Showcase after posting a 4-1 win over UAB on Friday.
Rodriguez improved to 15-4 with the singles win, a team-best, while Breitbach earned his seventh win and Reckow moved to 13-5 on the year.
The Roadrunners earned the doubles win behind wins on the final two courts, featuring Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) in a 6-4 win on the second court. Rodrgiuez and Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) posted a win on the third court, 6-3. Reckow and Ceolin own a team-leading 10-7 mark.
UTSA will face Rice on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Houston.
