SAN ANTONIO — Orla Brothers finished 14th in the women's 400-meter hurdles preliminary rounds to highlight Thursday action for UTSA at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Battling windy conditions, Brothers clocked a 1:01.02 to cross fifth in her heat and tie for the 14th-fastest time in the 82-person field in the first race of the meet for the Roadrunners. The freshman from Sussex, England, just missed earning one of the nine qualifying spots for the final less than one week after winning the same event at the Roadrunner Invitational.
Sierra Andres also raced in the 400m hurdles, stopping the clock in 1:07.03 for 72nd.
Meanwhile, Justin Gerbrecht and Andrew Pirog were in action in the men's 400m hurdles half an hour later.
Gerbrecht, a senior from Houston, won his heat with a season-best 54.06 clocking, a time that was 29th among 80 competitors.
Pirog, a junior out of San Antonio Reagan High School, was third in his heat and 35th overall in 54.70.
The quartet of intermediate hurdlers made up the only entries for UTSA on Thursday at the 92nd running of the annual meet.
