Men's Tennis travels to face Wichita State, Tulsa

SAN ANTONIO – Winners of five of its last eight matches, UTSA men's tennis will hit the road for a pair of tests, facing Wichita State on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Tulsa at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

UTSA (11-5) have been on the road for 11 of its 16 matches in 2019 and are venturing back on the road after a home win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center, improving the Roadrunners to 4-0 at home.

UTSA opened the year with wins in 10 of 12 matches before a three-match road skid in mid-March dented the winning streak. The Roadrunners own a 53-28 record in singles and a 26-15 mark in doubles.

Sophomore Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) leads the team with a 13-2 record in singles and has won eight of his last nine. Junior Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) earned his 10th singles win of the year on Wednesday, going 8-4 in the No. 4 spot in 2019. Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany) has gone 5-8 overall and 4-8 in the lead role, with Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) sporting a 7-4 record. Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) is 6-5, with Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) going 4-2 and Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) an 8-3 mark.

In doubles, Ceolin and Reckow are 10-4, with Brietbach and Sanson going 6-6 and Poestinger and Rodriguez sporting a 6-2 mark. Leon Hein (Hamburg, Germany) and Rodriguez are 2-0 in doubles.
