CSUN and Fresno State defeat Roadrunners

FULLERTON, Calif. – The UTSA softball team was defeated by CSUN and Fresno State on Saturday.
 
The Roadrunners fell to 9-10 on the season.
 
Game 1  - vs CSUN
The Roadrunners dropped a 2-1 decision to CSUN Friday evening.
 
Neither team scored until the fifth inning. The Matadors were on the board first after two singles to center field and a sac bunt, advancing runners.
 
CSUN scored again in the sixth when Jaime hit a bunt single, advancing Johnson and Gonzalez. Swan hit a single to center field as Rojas scored as the Matadors led 2-0 after the top of the inning. Hailey Garza hit a double down the left field line to put a runner on the bases. Madison Washington reached on a catcher's interference and Paige Pacher reached on a fielder's choice. Celeste Loughman hit a sac bunt to advance runners and score Garza.
 
The Roadrunners had three hits and a run, while allowing eight hits with just two runs for the Matadors.
 
Game 2 – vs Fresno State
UTSA fell to Fresno State 10-1 in six innings Friday night.
 
The Roadrunners were on the board early when Kindell Brooks hit a double to left center, scoring Riley Grunberg.
 
Through the third inning, UTSA allowed only two hits as the Bulldogs left three on base.
 
Nua hit a two-run homer in the fourth as Fresno State took a 2-1 lead.
 
The Bulldogs allowed six hits in the fifth, taking an 8-1 lead. They added another two runs in the sixth to win in a run-rule.
 
The Roadrunners had three hits with one run as Fresno State had 14 hits and 10 runs on the day.
 
UTSA returns to the field tomorrow to take on host, Cal State Fullerton. First pitch is set for 9:30 p.m. CT.
