SAN ANTONIO– Winners of six of its last seven matches, UTSA men's tennis travels to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12-4) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Complex.
UTSA (8-2) will be returning to Corpus Christi for its fourth straight match after playing in three over the weekend in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions, hosted by the Islanders. The Roadrunners went 2-1 during the tournament, earning wins over Tennessee Tech (5-2) and UTRGV (4-0), suffering a narrow 4-3 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Roadrunners have earned a 38-15 mark in singles competition in 2019 and a 16-9 clip in doubles.
Sophomore Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) has starred in his debut season after transferring from Purdue. Rodriguez is 9-1 in singles, has won seven straight and is a combined 6-3 in his three different doubles pairs.
Junior Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) is 7-2 in singles and has formed a duo with Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) to post a 6-3 mark in doubles in the lead role. Ceolin is 5-3 in singles play.
Freshman Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) has posted a 6-1 mark in singles and has gone 4-3 in a doubles pairing with Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany). Breitbach, a 6-foot-2, 175-pounder, has gone 2-6 in singles in the lead role.
Sophomore Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) is off to a 5-1 mark in singles and has won three straight. He has teamed with Rodriguez to go 2-3 in doubles.
Junior Leon Hein, a 6-foot-3 native of Hamburg, Germany, has teamed with Rodriguez to go 2-0 in doubles. Junior Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) is 4-1 in singles, and while playing with Rodriguez, is 2-0 in doubles.
The Roadrunners have been on the road for nine straight matches before returning to the UTSA Tennis Center on Saturday vs. UTRGV at 11 a.m.
