SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA men's tennis team posted a 4-3 win over SMU on Sunday at the SMU Tennis Complex.
UTSA (5-1) won its fourth straight match in the early stages of the dual-play season. The Roadrunners got singles wins from Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru), Javier Gonzalez (San Fernado, Chile) and Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria). Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) and Joao Ceolin (Palontina, Brazil) posted a win in the first doubles pair, with Rodriguez and Poestinger teaming for the deciding doubles win.
Rodriguez improved to 6-1 in singles play, with Poestinger off to a 4-0 record and Gonzalez sporting a 3-1 mark. In doubles, Rodriguez and Poestinger were paired together for the first time and Reckow and Ceolin moved to 5-1 with their fourth straight doubles win.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Friday and Saturday, traveling to participate in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
