SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA men's tennis team will kick off its 2019 dual-meet schedule with a matchup vs. Prairie View A&M on Friday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners, under the direction of head coach Rodrigo da Silva and assisted by Dimitar Kutrovsky, return several key players from their 2017-18 season.
Veterans include junior Kai Brietbach (Kaarst, Germany), sophomore Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil), sophomore Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile), junior Leon Hein (Hamburg, Germany), junior Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) and junior Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany). UTSA also welcomes newcomersJavier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile).
Brietbach was ranked in the fall as one of five C-USA standouts on the top-125 listing from the ITA, checking in No. 66.
The Roadrunners participated in four matches during the fall season, including hosting the UTSA Cup in mid-October, also participating in The Racquet Club Invite (Midland), the Texas Tamale Invite (Houston) and the ITA Regionals (Waco).
