Men’s Tennis announces spring schedule

SAN ANTONIO -- UTSA men's tennis will face a 21-match spring schedule for 2019, including five home matches, it was announced by head coach Rodrigo da Silva.
 
UTSA will kick off its spring schedule on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center, hosting Prairie View A&M. The Roadrunners will then embark on seven-match stretch on the road, traveling to face Texas (Jan. 30), Nicholls (Feb. 1), New Orleans (Feb. 3), Lamar (Feb. 10), SMU (Feb. 17), the H-E-B Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, Texas (Feb. 22-23) and at Texas A&M-CC (Feb. 27).
 
UTSA will host UTRGV on March 2 before hitting the road for a match at UT Arlington (March 9). The Roadrunners will venture to Logan, Utah, to face Denver (March 15), Boise State (March 16) and Utah State (March 17).
 
The Roadrunners return home to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (March 27) before facing road tests at Wichita State (March 30) and Tulsa (March 31).
 
A season-long two-match home stretch includes Southern Miss (April 5) and UAB (April 6), before UTSA ventures to face Rice (April 7) and Abilene Christian (April 13) on the road. UTSA will host UIW on April 16 at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
The Conference USA Championships will be hosted by Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on April 19-21. The NCAA Championships will run from May 16-25 at campus sites.
 
UTSA returns several standouts for 2019, including junior Kai Brietbach (Kaarst, Germany), who is ranked as the 66th best singles player in the nation by the ITA. Veteran returnees include Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil), Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile'), Leon Hein (Hamburg, Germany), Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) and Jeri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany).
