Women's hoops topped by IUPUI, 58-50

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team was topped by IUPUI, 58-50 Friday afternoon at the UTSA Thanksgiving Classic.
 
Ryann Stearns led UTSA (2-4) with 18 points, which is the second-highest single-game record this season. IUPUI (4-1) shot 37.7 percent from the field.
 
The Roadrunners shot 60 percent from the arch as they trailed the Jaguars by three (16-13) going to the second quarter.
 
IUPUI was leading 36-24 going to halftime, while points from Timea Toth, Marie Benson, Stearns and Karrington Donald helped bridge the gap.
 
Stearns hit her second double-digit scoring game and scored 100 percent from the arch to bring her point total to 14 as the Roadrunners trailed by eight going to the fourth. UTSA shot 42.9 percent from the field to close in the gap.
 
The Roadrunners scored most of their points in free throws in the fourth and tied the Jaguars in points with 11, but it wasn't enough as IUPUI kept the lead. Marie Benson garnered her third double-double this season with 13 points and 12 rebounds
