Meehan leads UTSA on final day of Maridoe Intercollegiate

CARROLLTON, Texas — Sean Meehan turned in his fourth sub-70 round of the season to highlight final-round action for the UTSA men's golf team on Monday at the Maridoe Intercollegiate.

Meehan fired a 1-under-par 69 that featured five birdies, including four on a five-hole stretch on the front nine. The senior from San Antonio finished in a tie for 20th place at 14-over 224 (75-80-69) and now has registered 16 career sub-70 rounds, second in program history behind Zander Lozano's 25.

Meanwhile, the Roadrunners recorded the third-lowest round of the day with a 292 to move into 10th place with a 905 (303-310-292). UTSA finished three shots ahead of Houston and eight in front of Rice (913), and the Birds were just two strokes behind Indiana (903) and seven back of eighth-place Tennessee (898).

Collin Clark posted UTSA's second-best round of the final day with a 73 that included a birdie on the 475-yard, par-4 ninth. The junior from Mansfield tied for 41st with a 228 (74-81-73).

Michael Rome was two shots and six places behind Clark, as the sophomore tied for 47th with a 230 (74-77-79).

Chad Sewell placed 60th with a 234 (80-78-76) and Adam House rounded out the UTSA lineup in a tie for 61st (86-75-74—235).

SMU captured the team title with an 861, followed by Texas A&M (875), North Texas (881), Coastal Carolina (886) and New Mexico (889) in the top five.

Walker Lee of Texas A&M claimed individual medalist honors with a 4-over 214.

The Roadrunners will return to action on Oct. 22-23 when they travel to Dallas for the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.
