Men’s Tennis opens fall slate in Midland

SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA men's tennis team will compete in the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas, on Friday-Sunday, the opening of the fall schedule.
 
UTSA, coached by third-year head man Rodrigo da Silva and assisted by former Texas great Dimitar Kutrovsky, kicks off the fall schedule in Midland, before a pair of September tournaments, including the Rice Invitational and the ITA All-American Championships (Tulsa).

"We are super excited to kick start the fall season tournament this weekend," da Silva said. "All of the guys worked very hard in the summer and we are looking forward to see what they can do on the court in Midland."

The Roadrunners host the UTSA Cup on Oct. 12 at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
UTSA returns a four-player junior class, including Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany), Leon Hein (Hamburg, Germany), Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) and Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany). Sophomores Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) round out the returners. UTSA has also added freshman Alan Sanson, a native of Santiago, Chile, for 2018-19.

Breitbach, Reckow, Ceolin and Gonzalez are slated to compete in Midland over the weekend. 
 
UTSA wrapped up its 2018 campaign with a 13-12 record. Ceolin led the Roadrunners with a 13-7 overall record in singles play, while Breitbach had a 12 winners and Gonzalez and Reckow each finished with 11 wins.
