LUBBOCK, Texas – Freshman Victoria Villarreal recorded a career-high five RBI as UTSA shutout the University of New Mexico, 8-0, in five innings, after falling to Texas Tech, 5-0, on Saturday in the Jeanne McHaney Memorial Classic at Rocky Johnson Field.

The Red Raiders (11-7) scored a run in the fifth inning to take a 1-0 lead, and would score four more in the sixth to take down the Roadrunners, 5-0, in UTSA's first contest of the afternoon.
UTSA recorded three hits as junior Bailee Baldwin doubled in the first inning, freshman Ashlynn Walls singled through the right side in the fourth inning, and sophomore Kylea Nix singled to second base in the fifth frame.
Freshman Madison Nelson (3-3) made the start in the circle for the UTSA, pitching 5.1 innings, while senior Lizzy Fox closed out the game with 0.2 frames pitched. Together they combined for two strikeouts and did not relinquish a single walk.

The Roadrunners took care of business fast, scoring four runs in the first, two runs in the second and two more during the third frame to defeat UNM, 8-0, in five innings. UTSA tallied nine hits, led by 2-for-3 performances from sophomore Celeste Loughman, Baldwin, and Villarreal. Villarreal guided the Roadrunners with a career-high five RBI.
Villarreal put the Roadrunners on the board with a three-run double to right center in the bottom of the first inning, plating Loughman and Baldwin, who both singled and Walls, who reached on a walk. UTSA added one more run on a walk-off RBI with bases loaded.
A pair of singles from sophomore Rylee Rodriguez and junior Hailey Garza plated two more runs in the bottom of the second while Villarreal delivered a two-run double through the right side in the third frame.
Fox (6-3) paced UTSA in the circle, hurling 5.0 innings of work, walking two and striking out three. The senior picked up her staff-leading sixth victory of the season.
