SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team held off cross-town foe Incarnate Word for a 5-2 victory on Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (5-5) evened their dual-match record after earning the doubles point and picking up four of six decisions on the singles courts.
Patrick Poestinger netted a come-from-behind three-set victory over Caleb Dyer at the sixth position to clinch the contest. Kai Breitbach also rallied from a set down to topple Gabriel Evans at the top flight.
Breitbach and Gabriel Bugiga collected a 6-1 win at the third doubles position, while Juri Reckow and Javier Gonzalez battled for a 7-6 triumph at No. 1 doubles to clinch the first point of the match.
Additionally, Gonzalez and Joao Ceolin also chipped in with wins in singles competition.
UTSA will return to action on Friday, March 2, as the 52nd Annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions kicks off in Corpus Christi.
HEAD COACH RODRIGO DA SILVA ON THE WIN
"I am really happy with this win. That gives a little streak going with three consecutive wins. It was a tough week because it rained a lot and we didn't get to practice much. It took us a little while to get into rhythm today. I'm looking forward to another four or five days of practice before the upcoming tournament. It is a lot of matches in two days, but I think the guys will be ready physically and mentally to play those matches."FINAL RESULTS
