UTSA to compete in Louisiana Classics this week

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's golf team will travel to Lafayette, La., to compete in the 33rd annual Louisiana Classics, which will be contested on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 26-27, at Oakbourne Country Club (par 72/7,098 yards).
 
The Roadrunners will face No. 11 Illinois, No. 28 Kent State, Louisiana, No. 26 Louisville, McNeese State, Mississippi State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss, No. 3 Texas A&M, Texas State, Toledo, ULM and UMKC. The field will play 36 holes beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday and the final round is slated to tee off at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

UTSA, which is 79th in the latest Golfstat rankings, finished sixth with a 298-300-300—898 at last year's Louisiana Classics behind a ninth-place effort from Collin Clark, who carded a 1-under-par 215 (71-73-71). The Roadrunners were fifth two years ago and also placed in the top 10 in 2002 (4th), 2004 (T-7th), 2014 (6th) and 2015 (9th).
 
UTSA is coming off a 10th-place showing at the All-American Intercollegiate last weekend in Humble. The senior duo of Zander Lozano and Jake Goodman led the way by finishing 14th (71-71-69—211) and 17th (69-75-68—212), respectively.
