Senior duo leads UTSA to 10th place at All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE — The senior duo of Jake Goodman and Zander Lozano registered top-20 finishes to lead the UTSA men's golf team to 10th place at the All-American Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Sunday at the Golf Club of Houston (par 72/7,067 yards).

Goodman fired a 4-under-par 68 — the Roadrunners' low round of the 54-hole tournament — in the final round to close out a 4-under 212 and tie for 17th in the 99-man field. The senior turned in six birdies en route to his second sub-70 round of the event (69 on Friday).

Meanwhile, Lozano carded a 3-under 69 on Sunday after recording back-to-back 71s in the first two rounds, and the Fair Oaks Ranch native finished in a tie for 14th with
a 5-under 211 to lead UTSA. The senior All-Conference USA performer wrote down birdies on five holes and finished the tournament with a team-high 14 while placing in the top 20 for the sixth time this season.

On the strength of the pair's sub-70 rounds, the Roadrunners turned in a 3-under 285 — the team's sixth red number of the season — and jumped two spots in the team standings on the final day into 10th at 1-over 865. UTSA finished two shots ahead of Sam Houston State (867) and three better than Rice (868), and the Birds were just a pair of strokes out of a tie for eighth between SMU and South Alabama in the 18-team field.

Michael Rome tied for 67th with a 223 (76-70-77), while Adam House and Collin Clark tied for 80th (78-78-71—227) and 84th (74-74-80—228), respectively, to round out the UTSA lineup.

No. 10 Auburn ran away with the team title with a 42-under 822, 16 shots ahead of third-ranked Baylor (838). No. 48 Mississippi (841), No. 30 South Carolina (843) and Houston (849) rounded out the top five.

South Carolina's Keenan Huskey claimed individual medalist honors with a 15-under 201 (68-68-65).

The Roadrunners will return to the course on Feb. 26-27 when they travel to Lafayette, La., for the Louisiana Classics.
