SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's golf team will open its spring season at the Arizona Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, Jan. 29-30, at Sewailo Golf Club (par 72/7,283 yards) in Tucson, Ariz.
The Roadrunners will compete against Arizona, No. 5 Baylor, No. 32 BYU, No. 15 California, Denver, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico, New Mexico State, No. 38 San Diego State, No. 25 Santa Clara, South Dakota State, No. 42 Saint Mary's, No. 4 Texas A&M, UTEP and Washington.
The field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday. There will be a 9:15 a.m. (CT) shotgun start on each day. Live scoring will be provided at http://golfstat.com.
The Roadrunners last competed in the Arizona Intercollegiate in 2011. Ryan Werre tied for 18th place to guide the Birds to a 13th-place finish.
UTSA registered four top-five finishes during the fall campaign, including a fourth-place effort at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate in the last outing on Oct. 29-31.
Individually, Zander Lozano leads the squad with a 72.27 stroke average and three top-10 finishes, including a pair of runner-up showings.
