BEAUMONT – Christian Carrillo and Patrick Poestinger won the first flight consolation bracket, while Leon Hein swept all three matches in flight four singles, as the UTSA men's tennis team concluded its fall campaign at the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
Carrillo and Poestinger dropped their opening doubles tilt, but defeated Lewis and Yadav of Prairie View A&M, 6-2, before knocking off Abdel-Aziz and Eskeland from Rice in the consolation final, 6-4.
Hein won all three of his singles matches in straight sets.
The Hamburg, Germany, native topped Lamar's Brock Lauer (6-2, 7-5) to open the tournament. He then tallied a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Prairie View A&M's Rodrigo Yoshikata. Hein wrapped up his perfect weekend with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph against Ben Hackney.
Overall, the Roadrunners collected 10 victories.
UTSA will begin preparing for the dual-match season, which kicks off Sunday, Jan. 14, at Texas Tech.
