SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's golf team will tee off the fall season at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 11-12, at Hattiesburg (Miss.) Country Club (par 71/6,902 yards).
The Roadrunners will open their 10th season under head coach John Knauer against a field that includes Mercer, Missouri State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Samford, Southeastern Louisiana, Louisiana, New Orleans, South Alabama, Southern Miss and UT Arlington. The teams will play 36 holes with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. The final round is set for Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
UTSA returns four letterwinners from last year's squad, headlined by Zander Lozano. The second-team All-Conference USA honoree posted the highest individual NCAA postseason finish when he tied for 24th at the Baton Rouge Regional last May. The Fair Oaks Ranch native led the Birds with a 72.03 stroke average and registered four top-10 finishes, including a pair of wins, last season.
The Roadrunners tied for 10th at last year's Sam Hall Intercollegiate. Lozano fired a final-round 67 on his way to tying for first (no playoff contested) with a 5-under-par 208.
