Roadrunners win five gold medals at Saturday's J. Fred Duckett Twilight

HOUSTON — UTSA captured five gold medals and registered a total of 10 podium finishes at Saturday's J. Fred Duckett Twilight.

All-American and Conference USA leader Ty Anderson led a 1-2 Roadrunners finish in the high jump after clearing 6-11 (2.11m). Meanwhile, Davante Edwards was right behind his teammate following a career-best clearance of 6-9 ¾ (2.09m).

Patrick Prince raced to a gold medal in the 110-medal hurdles after crossing the finish line in 14.07. It marked his fourth victory in five races this spring.

Tyler Finke led three UTSA throwers that placed among the top four in the shot put with his measurement of 55-9 ¼ (17.00m). Gabe Vargas was second with his put of 55-5 ¾ (16.91m), while Michael Zuniga was fourth with his mark of 49-5 ½ (15.07m).

Kaylon Sellers was victorious in the triple jump with his personal-record leap of 48-8 (14.83m) and he now ranks seventh on this year's league leaderboard.

Caleb Devereaux topped the field of 16 runners in the 800 meters B section with his career-best time of 1:54.76.

Victor Perez finished second in the hammer with a toss of 199-4 (60.76m), which came on his first attempt of the competition. Rice's Austin Riddle won the event with his measurement of 211-3 (64.40m). Perez also placed third in the discus with a throw of 158-2 (48.20m).

Randy Bermea was runner-up in the 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 52.14, which improved his league-leading mark by 15 one-hundredths of a second. Prairie View A&M's Logan Williams won the event in 51.71.

UTSA will be back in action next weekend at the Longhorns Invitational. The two-day meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 28.
