Lozano leads UTSA to eighth place at The Maxwell

EDMOND, Okla. — Zander Lozano tied for 31st place to lead the UTSA men's golf team to eighth at The Maxwell, which wrapped up on Saturday at Oak Tree Country Club's East Course (par 70/7,102 yards).

Lozano fired an even-par 70 that featured five birdies, including three over a four-hole stretch on the back nine, in closing out a 220 (75-75-70). The junior from Fair Oaks Ranch had 10 birdies during the 54-hole event in leading the Roadrunners to a top-10 showing.

UTSA carded an 880 (296-294-290) for eighth, three shots ahead of Wichita State and six better than No. 49 Augusta and 25th-ranked Colorado.

Collin Clark was the second-highest Roadrunner, as the freshman tied for 42nd with a 223 (72-75-76). The Mansfield native had two of his eight birdies during his final-round 76 on Saturday.

The trio of Bryce Alley, Adam House and Sean Meehan finished one shot back of Clark and in a tie for 48th. Alley matches Lozano with a team-high 10 birdies en route to rounds of 71, 73 and 80. House, who turned in a 78-75—153 on Friday, was one shot behind Lozano in the final round with a 1-over 71 that was highlighted by six birdies. Meehan bounced back from an 80 in the opening round with a 71 on Friday afternoon and a 73 on Saturday.

No. 2 Oklahoma State won the team title with an 849. No. 48 New Mexico was second (855), followed by No. 13 Oklahoma (855), No. 3 Baylor (870), No. 49 Liberty (871) and UCLA (871) in the top six.

UCLA's Hidetoshi Yoshihara captured the individual crown with a 1-under 209 (73-66-70).

The Roadrunners will return to the course on April 23-26 when they travel to Texarkana, Ark., for the Conference USA Championship.
