ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico handed the UTSA men's tennis team a 5-0 loss on Saturday at the Estes Tennis Center.
The Lobos (5-5) took a 1-0 lead by grabbing the doubles point.
Ricky Hernandez-Tong and Lawrence Perrin teamed up for a 6-1 decision against Kai Breitbach and Juri Reckow at the top of the lineup. Rodolfo Jauregui and Dominic West then secured the point with a 6-2 victory at No. 2.
Lawrence Perrin gave the home team a 2-0 advantage when he swept Axel Cronje at No. 4 singles, 6-1,6-2.
Hernandez-Tong downed Reckow at the top spot, 6-2, 6-3, and West clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Takeru Watanabe at No. 3.
Jauregui provided the final 5-0 margin with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Breitbach at No. 2.
The Roadrunners (2-6) will stay on the road to face Denver (3-5) at noon (CT) on Sunday.
