LAFAYETTE, La. — Patrick Poestinger and Juri Reckow were victorious in singles matches, but it was not enough in a 4-2 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday at Cajun Courts.
Poestinger and Reckow each registered straight-set wins for the Roadrunners (2-5), but the Ragin' Cajuns (9-3) snagged the doubles point and won three singles contests en route to their first win in the series since 2014.
Louisiana-Lafayette took a 1-0 lead after claiming wins in two of the three doubles matchups.
Eric Perez and Coleman Wahlborg teamed up to defeat Kai Breitbach and Axel Cronje at No. 1, and Jamie Fraser and Arthur Libaud scored a 6-3 victory against Fabian Brand and Igor Cantanhede at the second spot to clinch the point.
In singles, Poestinger made quick work of Perez at No. 6. The freshman from Austria posted a 6-3, 6-2 triumph to even the match score at 1-1.
Reckow then gave UTSA a 2-1 advantage when the freshman from Germany swept Pearse Dolan, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2.
The Ragin' Cajuns knotted the score when Vlad Kramarov outlasted Cronje, 6-3, 6-4, at the third position.
The home team took a 3-2 edge after a 6-4, 6-3 win by Libaud against Breitbach at the top of the lineup.
Wahlborg then secured the match for the home team after he rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Christian Carrillo at No. 5.
The Roadrunners will hit the road again next Saturday, Feb, 25, when they travel to Albuquerque, N.M., to face New Mexico.
