Roadrunners finish eighth at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

PEARLAND — Bryce Alley tied for 16th to lead the UTSA men's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, which concluded on Tuesday at Golfcrest Country Club (par 72/7,272 yards).

Alley carded a 2-over-par 218 in registering his 11th top-20 performance of his collegiate career. The senior from Longview opened the 54-hole event with a 71-72—143 on Monday and closed out with a 75 to help the Roadrunners to their second top 10 showing of the fall campaign.

Zander Lozano and Sean Meehan finished five places and one shot behind Alley in a tie for 21st at 3-over 219.

Lozano posted the squad's low round of the day with a 72 that featured a pair of birdies after turning in a 74-73—147 on Monday.

Meehan followed his 70-70—140 with a 79 on Tuesday, and the sophomore led the field in par-4 scoring at 3-under.

Adam House and Collin Clark rounded out the UTSA lineup in ties for 58th (78-72-77—227) and 75th (78-78-77—234), respectively.

The Roadrunners posted a 17-over 881 (293-287-301) to finish eighth in the 13-team field.

Kansas claimed the team title with a 12-under 852. Houston and UT Arlington tied for second (869), followed by Rice (870), McNeese State (872), Nebraska (876) and Lamar (880).

Mans Berglund of Lamar was the individual medalist with a 9-under 207 (70-67-70).

The Roadrunners will return to action on Oct. 28-30 when they travel to El Paso for Price's "Give 'Em Five" Invitational.
