SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host Shandong, a junior national team from China, on Tuesday, Aug. 30, in the Roadrunners' only exhibition match of the season at the Convocation Center at 6 p.m.
UTSA (3-0) welcomes the Shandong Junior Women's team off an undefeated weekend at the SMU Doubletree Classic. Senior Dajana Boskovic was named MVP; meanwhile, Jessica Waldrip and Marijeta Runjic earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
The Roadrunners hit a Conference USA third-best .306 and held opponents to just a .104 attack percentage. Boskovic paced the Roadrunners offense averaging 4.13 kills per set while Waldrip added 10.89 assists per frame. Defensively, the duo led the squad with 3.38 and 3.00 digs per set, respectively. At the net, freshman Kara Teal posted 10.0 blocks per set.
As a team, UTSA also registered double-figure aces in the two of the three matches over the weekend and rank sixth in the NCAA in aces per set (2.80) and total aces (28).
The Shandong Junior Women's Team heads to the Alamo City as part of a two-week tour of the United States, similar to what the UTSA volleyball team did in Europe this past May.
