DALLAS — Dajana Boskovic and Marijeta Runjic combined for 33 of the team's 56 kills to lead UTSA to a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 25-21) victory at SMU on Friday night.

UTSA (2-0) controlled the opening frame as the Roadrunners hit .a 318 (16-2-44) clip and held SMU to a .239 attack percentage to win the first set 25-22. The score tied early in the set but UTSA managed to hold off the home team throughout.

The tables turned in the second set as SMU (1-1) evened the match winning 25-19. The Roadrunners came within one at the 13-12 mark on a kill by Teal but four of the next five points by the Mustangs gave SMU a 17-13 lead and forced UTSA to take a timeout. SMU pulled away out of the timeout to hold off the Roadrunners.

UTSA took a 2-1 lead in the match after winning the third set 25-19 but battled it out in the fourth set and edged out the Mustangs 25-21. SMU was held to its lowest hitting percentage of .158 while UTSA hit a match-high .400 (13-1-30).

Ten ties and five lead changes consumed much of the fourth set and saw Boskovic record eight of her 20 kills in the final set. The senior went error-free hitting .500 (8-0-16).

The Mustangs drew the final tie of the game at 16 on a kill by Katie Hegarty but the Roadrunners responded by scoring five of the next six points to lead 21-17. The Mustangs called for a timeout but only managed to come within three at the 23-20 mark on another kill by Hegarty. Teal then secured the win for UTSA with her ninth kill of the night.

UTSA will close out the weekend in Dallas on Saturday, Aug. 27, as they face Montana at noon.
