MURFREESBORO, Tenn . -- J.T. Gilmore blasted a two-out double to clear the bases and lift UTSA to a 4-3 victory at Middle Tennessee in the season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
Trailing 3-1 in the fifth inning, the Roadrunners (17-34, 8-20 C-USA) loaded the bases on Tyler Straub's double and back-to-back walks to Mason George and C.J. Pickering. Gilmore stepped up to the plate and blasted a double down the right-field line that cleared the bases. UTSA scored all four of its runs in the inning, as Matt Hilston came home on Straub's double earlier in the frame.
Patrick Herbelin was the pitcher of record, as he logged 2.1 innings in relief for the win.
Middle Tennessee (20-35, 5-24 C-USA) scored early with a pair of runs on a RBI single and a balk by Chance Kirby in the third inning of play.
In the fourth, the Blue Raiders added to their lead with a two-out single.
UTSA outhit Middle Tennessee, 10-7, and committed just one miscue on the day.
Bryan Arias led all hitters with a 3-for-5 performance and a stolen base, while Gilmore went 2-for-4 with his three-run double that proved to be the game-winner.
