EL PASO — Dajana Boksovic and Kasey Kiefer led UTSA with 17 and 11 kills, respectively, to lead the Roadrdunners to a 25-21, 25-20, 25-13 of UTEP on Sunday afternoon.
Boskovic registered double figure kills for the 13th time this season and fifth consecutive match, while also posting her seventh double-double with 11 digs.
Meanwhile, Kiefer also recorded her first double-double of the year with 10 digs.
Amanda Gonzales led the two-setter offense with 20 assists while Jessica Waldrip added 18.
The Roadrunners (13-6, 4-1 C-USA) held their opponent to the second lowest attack percentage of the season with a .037 clip. No Miner reach double figure kills and they were led by Talia Jones’ eight kills.
The battle commenced in the first set as it saw 10 ties and three lead changes. After UTEP (7-13, 1-5 C-USA) tied the score for the final time at 11 on a block, the Roadrunners scored three straight points to lead 14-11. The Roadrunners powered through and won the first set 25-21.
In the second set, UTSA played from behind after the Miners held a 7-1 advantage. UTSA went on a 5-0 run to come within one, 7-6, but the Miners held onto their lead. After a miscue by the Roadrunners tied the score at 14, an error by the Miners gave UTSA the advantage and they never looked back.
Out of the intermission, UTSA led from the get-go and made easy work of the Miners winning the stanza 25-13.
UTSA will close out its three-match road swing on Thursday, Oct. 15, when it travels to Rice for a 4 p.m. matchup.
