SAN ANTONIO — UTSA upset No. 12 Oregon in four sets on Monday (21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23) in front of a crowd of 1,051 fans at the Convocation Center. The victory marked the first time in program history that the Roadrunners (7-1) defeated a ranked opponent.

Dajana Boskovic reached double figures for the fifth time this year with 21 kills and she added 16 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Meanwhile, Marijeta Runjic added 11 winners and three blocks.

In the opening set, UTSA played close behind as the Ducks (5-3) edged the Roadrunners 25-21. The Roadrunners’ only lead of the frame was at the 4-3 mark on error by the Ducks, but was quickly taken back on a UTSA miscue.

UTSA bounced back in the second set and won a close 25-23 decision. The Roadrunners trailed early in the stanza but made up the deficit on three straight points, 5-4. Oregon knotted the score on the following rally but a block by Kylie Schott and Jessica Waldrip kicked off a 4-0 rally to put the Roadrunners up 9-5.

The Roadrunners managed to keep the visiting Ducks at bay and led by as many as seven at the 20-13 mark.

Momentum continued out of the intermission and the Roadrunners secured the monumental win with a 25-19 win in the third set and a 25-23 win in the fourth.

Oregon put up a fight in the fourth set and came within two points late in the set. A kill from Martenne Bettendorf made the score 24-22 but an attack error by the Ducks and a kill from Antonela Jularic secured the win for UTSA.

Bettendorf led the Ducks with 22 kills and 11 digs.

UTSA will return to the Convocation Center on Thursday when they host Santa Clara (4-2) at 5:30 p.m.
