SAN ANTONIO — UTSA heads into its final non-conference matchups this weekend when the team travels to Dallas for the SMU Doubletree Invitational hosted by SMU, Sept. 18-19, at Moody Coliseum.
The Roadrunners will take on TCU and Clemson on the first day of action and will end the two-day event with SMU. The Mustangs were recognized on this week’s AVCA Division I Top-25 Coaches Poll as they received 33 votes.
The first match-up of the day will begin at 10:30 a.m. for both teams, as UTSA owns a 3-1 record over the TCU Horned Frogs. The Roadrunners will conclude their day with a 5 p.m. match against Clemson and that will mark the first meeting between both programs.
The final match of the tournament will commence at 3:30 p.m. against the host institution and the Roadrunners.
UTSA heads to Dallas with an 8-3 overall record and is coming off a split at the Texas Classic. The Roadrunners suffered a 3-0 loss to UT and came back with a sweep of Iona.
Dajana Boskovic continues to be an offensive threat as the junior outside is averaging 4.45 kills per set (4th in C-USA/20th in NCAA) and adds 78 digs and 21 blocks to the defense.
As a team, UTSA is hitting a .255 clip and holding opponents to a .156 attack percentage. Aiding in the Roadrunners offense is reigning C-USA Setter of the Year, Jessica Waldrip, as she adds 9.94 assists per set. The team is also averaging 1.50 aces per set with a total of 60, which ranks 46th in the NCAA.
