HUMBLE — Brett Hogan tied for 10th place at 2-under-par 214 to lead UTSA to a 10th-place showing at the Bayou City Championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Golf Club of Houston (6,967 yards/par 72).
Hogan entered the final round in tie for 12th after carding a 1-under 71 on Friday and a 73 in the second round. The junior from Calgary, Alberta, registered four birdies against just a pair of bogeys en route to a 2-under 70 on Sunday to post his fourth straight top-10 finish and seventh of his career.
Zander Lozano followed rounds of 76 and 71 with a 74 on Sunday and the freshman from Boerne tied for 36th at 5-over 221.
J.J. Lindsey was one shot behind Lozano, as the junior from Adkins tied for 43rd at 222 (72-75-75).
Bryce Alley and Garrison Lackey placed 60th (75-76-74—225) and 77th (78-74-78—230), respectively.
The Roadrunners finished 10th with a 16-over 880 (294-293-293), ahead of New Mexico State (882), Louisiana-Lafayette (892), Lamar (893), Rice (895) and Northern Illinois (919).
No. 9 South Carolina fired a 14-under 850 to edge Sam Houston State (852) for the team title. Eighth-ranked Baylor (860), No. 38 Arkansas (861) and No. 30 Houston (868) rounded out the top five.
Sam Houston State's Zach Cabra claimed the individual crown with an 8-under 208 (72-71-65).
The Roadrunners will return to action from March 2-3 when they travel to Lafayette, La., to compete in the Louisiana Classics.
