SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will welcome UAB and FIU in their final home matches of the season and it will send off a pair of seniors at the same time. The Roadrunners will host the Blazers at 7 p.m. on Friday and the Panthers will come to the Convocation Center for a 1 p.m. tilt two days later.
UTSA (16-7, 12-0 C-USA) will look to extend its 13-match winning streak and remain undefeated in Conference USA play. The Birds remains in the driver's seat in their quest to successfully defend their regular season crown.
Dajana Boskovic averages 4.27 kills per set in league matches, while Jessica Waldrip aides the Roadrunners' .278 attack percentage with 11.86 assists per frame. Dempsey Thornton chips in with 3.97 kills per stanza, as the duo of Boskovic and Thornton have combined for 370 of the team's 643 winners this fall.
Defensively, UTSA leads the conference in digs per set with 15.60 per frame. Annie Kunes is averaging a team-leading 4.04 per set in conference, which also leads the league. At the net, Kylie Schott averages 0.96 blocks per frame while hitting a team-high .412.
UAB (6-21, 3-9 C-USA) will travel to the Lone Star State on a four-match losing skid. The Blazers are hitting a .189 clip, while their opponents are averaging a .236 hitting percentage. Gabby Deshotel leads the UAB offense with 2.76 kills per set and Sara Rishell adds 2.26 winners per frame with a .328 attack percentage.
Meanwhile, FIU (6-20, 3-10 C-USA) will travel to El Paso before heading to the Alamo City on Sunday. The Panthers, who have dropped seven consecutive matches, picked up their last win on Oct. 12. Lucia Castro leads the team with 3.11 kills per set, which ranks 10th in C-USA. FIU is hitting a collective .148 on the season while allowing the opposition to hit a .209 clip.
Lauren Muenchow and Dempsey Thornton will be honored prior to Sunday's contest as part of Senior Day.
