Roadrunners to play at Miramont Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s golf team will make the short drive to Bryan to compete in the inaugural Miramont Invitational, which will be held on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 13-14, at Miramont Country Club (par 72/7,174 yards).

Co-hosted by Rice and Sam Houston State, the two-day, 54-hole event will get underway with the first two rounds with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, followed by the final 18 with tee times starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The field also includes Columbia, No. 43 Houston, Houston Baptist, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, No. 42 Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State and UT Arlington.

The Roadrunners are coming off a 10th-place finish at the Jerry Pate National Invitational on Oct. 6-7 in Vestavia Hills, Ala. Brett Hogan led UTSA for the second straight tournament by firing a 3-over-par 213 (70-71-72) to tie for 15th. The junior from Calgary posted his third career top 10 when he tied for sixth with a 70-71—141 at the weather-shortened Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Sept. 29-30.
