Roadrunners to open Conference USA play on Monday night at UTEP

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will open Conference USA play on Monday when it travels to UTEP for a 7 p.m. (CT) match.

The Roadrunners (4-7) concluded their non-conference slate with a four-set victory against Baylor in Saturday's final match of the UTSA Classic. UTSA ended a 13-match losing streak against the Bears, as it last defeated Baylor back in 1990.

Dajana Boksovic leads the Roadrunners with 3.96 kills per set with a .238 attack percentage. The sophomore outside hitter also is bringing 0.72 blocks per frame to the defense. Dempsey Thornton adds 3.43 winners per set, while Kylie Schott is hitting a team-best .373. Jessica Waldrip is averaging 9.26 assists per set and leads the squad with 0.35 service aces per set.

Defensively, Annie Kunes brings 4.95 digs per set and Megan Slan owns a team-leading 1.25 blocks per set.

UTEP (2-9) has dropped four of its last five outings with the lone win coming against Nevada at the Denver Invitational.

Coline Coessens leads the Miners with 2.55 kills per set, is third on the team with 74 digs (2.24 dps) and ranks fifth with 18 blocks. Dayana Acevedo Rios is averaging 3.50 digs per set on the defense, while Krystal Ejesieme adds 1.26 blocks per frame.
