SAN ANTONIO — UTSA, winners of eight of its last nine outings, will conclude its regular season road schedule with matches at Charlotte and Marshall this weekend. The Roadrunners (16-7, 8-1 C-USA) will square off with the 49ers at 6 p.m. (CT) on Friday before taking on the Thundering Herd at noon (CT) two days later.
UTSA is coming off Sunday's sweep at UTEP and Preseason Conference USA Player of the Year McKenzie Adams was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday and Jessica Waldrip earned her first career Setter of the Week Award.
Charlotte (10-14, 0-9 C-USA) enters Friday's contest on a nine-match losing streak. The 49ers last win came on Sept. 24 against Gardner-Webb. The team's top attacker is Amanda Videmsek, who averages 3.28 kills per set.
Meanwhile, Sunday's first-ever meeting between the Roadrunners and the Thundering Herd (14-11, 7-2 C-USA) matches the two winningest C-USA head coaches at their current schools. The Thundering Herd’s Mitch Jacobs leads all conference coaches with 221 wins at Marshall, while Laura Neugebauer-Groff sits in second with 204 wins during her 12-year stay at UTSA.
