UTSA duo earns Conference USA Player of the Week accolades on Monday

IRVING — McKenzie Adams was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and Jessica Waldrip was tabbed the circuit's Setter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Adams, the Preseason C-USA Player of the Year, hit .400 and collected 22 kills in UTSA's Sunday sweep at UTEP. Adams accounted for 23.5 points and added 12 digs for her 17th double-double of the season. The Schertz native had at least seven kills in each set against the Miners. She currently ranks second in the nation in kills per set (5.40) and is third in points per stanza (5.84).

Meanwhile, Waldrip averaged 14.67 assists per set in the victory. The freshman from New Braunfels dished out 44 helpers with a set percentage of .463. She helped lead the Roadrunners to a .312 hitting percentage in their eighth conference win in nine outings this fall.

The victory over the Miners was UTSA's in El Paso since the 1990 season.

The Roadrunners (16-7, 8-1 C-USA) will finish their regular season road schedule this weekend at Charlotte (10-14, 0-8 C-USA) and Marshall (13-11, 7-2 C-USA).
